Taking the Workout Inside
It is cold out and you want to get up and exercise....kind of tough when it is 30 below. Combinations of holiday food and lack of activity can wreck havoc on your system. Here are some suggestions to stay fit during the winter wonderland:
1. Push Up on Everything - I know not everyone is going to plop down on the ground and "GIVE ME 20!" But, there are many opportunities to keep the body moving without hitting the ground. Doing push ups against the wall, side of a bed, chair, or other various sturdy surface. (NOTE TO ALL AUDIENCES - IF IT HAS GOT WHEELS DO PUSH OFF OF IT)
2. Lunge to the Fridge - Little change of pace. I am sure you will be going back and forth to the fridge for all the tasty morsels that grandma cooked up but doing a few lunges on the way there would do your body good. If the exercise isn't enough, getting some sore legs may prevent you from making too many trips to the fridge for turkey.
3. Hot Yoga...In Front of the Fire - This is odd but bear with me. It is cold and the idea of stretching seems insane but if you did it on a rug in front of a warm fire.....not sounding so bad. Keeping the body nice and limber makes you more inclined to workout, thus, staying loose is wherer it is at!
